Kurohana Japanese Kitchen
Designing a reservation-focused restaurant website inspired by modern Japanese hospitality
Role: UX/UI Design, Web Design & Copywriting (Solo Project)
Tools: Wix Studio, Figma
Project
Kurohana is a concept website for a contemporary Japanese restaurant, created to explore how UX design can support both the dining experience and business goals. The project focuses on presenting the restaurant as a premium destination while making it easy for customers to browse the menu, order online, or reserve a table.
The Goal
The website was designed to help visitors:
-
Discover the restaurant's atmosphere
-
Explore the menu with ease
-
Order food online
-
Learn about the omakase experience
-
Reserve a table with minimal friction
My Approach
I structured the website around the typical journey of someone looking for a restaurant online. Instead of simply displaying information, the content guides visitors from discovering the brand to exploring the menu and taking action through online ordering or reservations.
The design combines clean layouts, strong visual hierarchy, and mobile-responsive pages to create a seamless experience across devices.
Design Decisions
Menu Architecture: The menu is organized into clear categories, making it easy for users to browse different offerings without feeling overwhelmed.
Hospitality Branding: The visual identity uses minimalist layouts, elegant typography, and photography to communicate a premium dining experience inspired by modern Japanese hospitality.
Online Ordering: Dedicated ordering flows allow customers to quickly browse dishes and place orders, supporting users who prefer takeaway or delivery.
Reservation-Focused CTAs: Reservation buttons are placed throughout the website, making it easy for users to book a table whenever they're ready without searching through the site.
Editorial Content: Additional pages, including an omakase experience and editorial-style restaurant reviews, help tell the restaurant's story and reinforce its premium positioning.
Mobile Responsive Design: The entire website was built in Wix Studio with responsive layouts, ensuring menus, ordering, and reservation flows remain intuitive on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
